MPOA Candidate Endorsement Application
Dear Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in the Murrieta Police Officers Association (MPOA) endorsement of your political endeavor. MPOA frequently offers its support to candidates who demonstrate a dedication to public safety andother matters of interest to the law enforcement community. The following is a summary of how MPOA processes requests for its political endorsements.
Candidates must submit a completed copy of the MPOA endorsement application and questionnaire in order to be considered for an endorsement. These documents must be returned to the MPOA office prior to the filing deadline for the office that you are seeking. Endorsement applications and candidate questionnaires may be obtained by downloading them from the MPOA website at www.Murrietapoa.com
Completed copies of the endorsement applications and questionnaires can be turned in to a POA Board of Directors member or mailed to:

Each candidate is individually evaluated by the MPOA-PAC. This process usually involves the review of your application, questionnaire, personal history, participation in an interview before the committee, and a ride-along with an MPOA member. A MPOA-PAC member will contact you to schedule an interview after your application; questionnaire, and personal history is reviewed.
The MPOA will usually not issue an endorsement prior to filing deadline, however, early endorsement requests will be considered. Such requests may be made in writing to the Association’s Political Action Committee (PAC).
Once the MPOA-PAC has completed its evaluation and interview, a recommendation is submitted to the MPOA Board of Directors for consideration. Only the MPOA Board of Directors is authorized to issue political endorsements on behalf of the organization. Individual officers, directors and staff members are not authorized to endorse on behalf of the MPOA.
All efforts will be made to notify candidates of a decision as soon as possible following action by our Board of Directors. Such notifications are made in writing, on official MPOA letterhead and signed by the Association President. No candidate is authorized to publish or use the MPOA endorsement without receiving the official written notification of the endorsement by the MPOA.
MPOA reserves the right to withdraw/modify its endorsement at any time for any reason without notice.
Endorsement Decision Making
The Murrieta Police Officers Association Board of Directors will make all final decisions on majority vote of the directors for endorsements based on the recommendations provided by the MPOA-PAC.
Endorsement Actions
An endorsement could consist of any, all or none of the following three “Endorsement Actions”:
1. A written endorsement letter for the candidate.
2. A listing of candidates on the MPOA website at www.Murrietapoa.com who support the MPOA’s targeted issues. Targeted issues are those issues of particular importance to the MPOA and its membership, and subject to final review might include such things as salary, benefits, and other law enforcement issues.
3. Financial support for the candidate.
Criteria For Endorsement
The following criteria, in no particular order, will be used by the MPOA-PAC in determining the appropriate Endorsement Action for each candidate.
Completed candidate questionnaire
Leadership positions held
Past active support and assistance in committee or on the floor
Prior experience in community affairs
General and specific interest in commitment
Work experience to public safety, officer safety, criminal justice, Party affiliation of the candidate and public employee issues
Opinions of the candidate by other public safety groups
The ability of the candidate to conduct a viable campaign
Voting records if an incumbent
Position on current MPOA issues
Sponsorships
Prior experience in public office
Work experience
Party affiliation of the candidate
Committee assignments
Incumbency
MPOA Candidate Endorsement Applciation
1. Fill in all information on the application and questionnaire completely. The questionnaire contains questions of significance to the MPOA on both a local, county, and state level. If a question has no significance or applicability to the office you are seeking please mark “No Significance” or “Not Applicable” as appropriate in the space shown for an answer to the question. Please do not leave any question blank.
2. Please complete this form. Once completed, mail this form to us.
3. Include a copy of your resume and any other additional documentation or information you would like the MPOA-PAC to consider during their review of your package.
4. You may be requested to participate in a pre-endorsement interview before MPOA-PAC and a ride-along with an MPOA member. If applicable, an MPOA-PAC member will contact you to schedule an interview and ride along after your application, questionnaire and personal history is reviewed.
